Tax abatement is colloquially known as a tax holiday and it is used by a number of countries to promote investment and enterprise. Tax abatement is provided by both federal and state governments in their own jurisdictions. In some cases, even county governments have been known to provide tax abatements. This also acts as demonstration of a community to grow with corporate involvement. The companies get mot more incentives to act as a better corporate citizen. It also allows small and medium business to move ahead and eases their transition to higher levels of development. At the outset it might look like the government is a looser in the entire tax abatement thing but the fact is that it also gets significant benefits by providing tax abatements. It creates a platform based on which the government and corporate world can form meaningful partnerships. Since tax abatement increases the number of corporate citizens of a community, these corporate citizens can share some of the developmental work which otherwise the government would have been taking care of. Above all tax abatement is not to last forever and after the abatement is over, taxes have to be paid. By the time the tax abatement period is over, the overall strength of community has grown manifold and it can easily pay the taxes even after being adjusted for inflation and other parameters.
